Rise Above: A Spiritual Approach to Transformation
In my previous blog post, I talked about how everyone is conditioned by their upbringing, society, environment, and more. This realization came to me when I noticed certain personality traits in myself that I wasn't fond of. At first, it led to self-blame, but as I began to peel the layers, I traced many of these traits back to my mother. Naturally, I wanted to blame her. But blaming her didn’t resolve my anger or frustration; in fact, it only made me feel worse. I felt guilty because I knew she was only doing her best with what she knew.
I found myself stuck in a place of, "I don’t like feeling this way—how do I get out of it?" I tried distracting myself, but that didn’t work. I tried changing my old beliefs, but that proved to be extremely difficult. Even when I convinced my mind, my body still carried the weight of old patterns. Change is possible—I have done it—but healing takes an immense amount of time, and it happens quietly. It doesn’t happen on demand; pain doesn’t just disappear because we want it to.
For a few years now, I have been following the spiritual leader Sadhguru. He teaches that in order to find peace, we must create distance from our body and mind. I decided to apply this wisdom and started my own practice. When I connect with my spirituality—whether through meditation or visualization—I get to "Rise Above." Rise above all the troubles, emotions, and circumstances and find peace. I step into my higher self, shedding the roles I play in my daily life. In those moments, I become lighter, calmer, and free.
True healing isn’t about fixing the past but about transcending it. It’s about shifting our perspective so that we no longer feel trapped by our emotions. Through this practice, I have learned that rising above doesn’t mean ignoring my experiences or denying my emotions—it means embracing a deeper awareness that allows me to move forward with grace.
So, when life feels overwhelming, remember: You have the power to rise above.
May you always find light in the moments of darkness, and may peace and clarity guide your path.
